If someone doesn’t let us know the root causes of economic and social issues or fools us into not questioning the root causes, we will never be able to solve the problem. Due to such reasons, many socio-economic issues in the world persist for a long time. Exploiters, discriminators, or superstitious people reinforce various religious, political, or cultural ideologies and practices that are the root causes of such socio-economic issues.

The caste system, which evolved* from the Varna system or Sanatana Dharma, is the root cause of many socio-economic issues and caste and gender discrimination in India. It affects 90% of Indians. But many Indians think that it affects only the backward castes.

The Varna system was integral to Vedic Brahmanism, an ancient religion that emerged from the Vedic religion. It was the religion of Indo-Aryans, who migrated to the Indian subcontinent around 1500 B.C. from present-day Iran. They enforced the most discriminatory Varna System in the name of religion to maintain the supremacy of Indo-Aryans, especially Vedic Brahmins, and exploit Indus Valley settlers and other native Indians.

Many Indians blindly follow and strengthen Brahmanism and become its victims for about 3000 years, as they are unaware of the real purpose of Brahmanism and lack rational thinking. Another reason is that Brahmanism disguises itself in religions like Vedic Brahmanism, Brahminized Hinduism, and political ideologies like Hindutva.

The Brahminists who created the caste system for their own benefit distorted history, created stories of fake gods and heroes to strengthen it, attributed religious sanctity to it, and brainwashed the victims not to question it. This way, they have been dominating, discriminating against, and exploiting others for 3000 years.

In this blog, I discuss Brahmanism and other religious, political, and cultural ideologies, which are the root causes of many economic and social issues in the world. But I will discuss more about the caste system and its inherent gender inequality, as it affects 90% of Indians and is the root cause of many socio-economic issues in India. Furthermore, I will discuss how rationalism and humanism can be useful in solving these socio-economic issues.

* Brahminists are people who practice or enforce the Varna or caste system and its inherent gender discrimination. In history, Vedic Brahmins were Brahminists, but now many non-Brahmins are increasingly becoming Brahminists because they benefit from it. Not all Brahmins are Brahminists, and there are some Brahmins who fought against Brahmanism. My views are against Brahmanism, not Brahmins or Hindus.
